Vibrant and Bold Barnes Foundation Wedding | Philadelphia, PA

Aesthetic: Beautiful, dark, and saturated

It was truly an exceptional day at the Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia for Hollis and Tyler's wedding day this summer. TWIG was privileged to design the couple's floral vision, which was meticulously brought to life with grandeur and elegance to match the richness of the venue. The Barnes Foundation, renowned for its stunningly eclectic art collection, provided the perfect backdrop for our floral design.

Hollis was inspired when she saw the riot of colors in this blog post about Alani and John's wedding at Water Works last year. Instantly falling in love with the hot bright colors, we planned to go for a totally saturated look with a little bit of a darker foundation.

Floral pillars graced the ceremony space, lush and full, in deep hues of maroon. Bursting from the darkness were pops of pink, peach, and yellow - a symphony of color and vibrancy that mirrored the joy of the day. These pillars created an atmosphere of opulence, their colors echoing the deep tones found in the art that adorned the walls of the Foundation.

The bride carried a stunning bouquet that was a gorgeous statement piece against her gown. Its accent colors matched the maroon of the pillars and centerpieces, yet had its own distinct charm, especially crowned with a large pink Peony in full bloom.

The heart of the reception was undoubtedly the head table, a truly majestic sight to behold. Stretching an impressive 40 feet in length, it commanded attention as it ran down the center of the room, becoming the focal point of the entire event.

Adorned with exquisite centerpieces, carefully crafted to be full and lush, delicate blooms fell gracefully from tall glass vases, their vibrant colors adding a touch of elegance. The table itself was adorned with a lush assortment of greens, arranged to create a visually stunning display. To add a touch of warmth and ambiance, LED pillar candles were strategically placed along the table, casting a soft, inviting glow that enveloped the entire space, creating an atmosphere of enchantment and romance.

This head table was encircled by round guest tables, each adorned with a variety of centerpieces. Some were tall, matching the majestic height of those at the head table, while others were smaller. The variety of heights added depth to the room and served to accentuate the towering pillars. It was an oasis of flowers creating a visual delight for the eyes.

And to top it all off, everything was local. Every flower was sourced from our local growers, bringing the beauty of our local environment into the heart of the celebration. We even had the great fortune of being within peak Peony season, adding an extra special touch to their florals. The peonies added a delicate softness to the arrangements, their lovely petals providing a contrast to the darker hues.

This wedding was truly a floral extravaganza. It celebrated love through the beautiful language of flowers, where every petal and leaf played a role in creating a memorable day. As the orchestrators of this floral symphony, we were thrilled to bring this vision to life at the stunning Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia.
